I've been here twice and have ordered to go once so far. So glad my classmate introduced me to this spot. I've moved out to the valley about a year ago and I could not find a good pupusa spot to save my life. And then, BAM!!! I found Cafe Platano. I could not be more satisfied. The pupusas were amazing and the server is great. They are so friendly and they greet you upon entering and exiting. The drink (Mai Tai) I had was strong and good! Got me real warm hahah Can't wait until my next visit! Only issues I had was the hours of operation. They close a little too early for me to get off work, go home, clean up, and go eat and relax.

I've passed by this place so many times on the freeway and finally stopped here upon the suggestion of a friend when we were deciding where to meet. This was the perfect spot for us for a 10AM breakfast. The girls working here were so welcoming and patient. They had a breakfast menu in addition to their pupusa menu. You can order anything. I went w/the "Platano favorite": 3 scrambled eggs w/veggies, refried beans, sweet fried plantains and side of Salvadoran chorizo and sour cream and tortillas. The plantains were amazing and perfectly cooked. We both agreed we could eat a whole plate of that alone. The eggs were okay bc they had a bit of a sour taste to them....maybe it was the seasoning. The chorizo was a bit dry for my liking and not like Mexican chorizo, so just keep that in mind. The beans were delicious and apparently you're supposed to eat the beans, sour cream and plantains together in the same bite according to my Salvadorian friends when I asked them after the fact. Ooops! My friend and I both ordered coffee and were brought a carafe to share. The girls were attentive and would frequently check on us to see if we needed anything else. It was a calm ambiance for a Saturday morning for my friend and I to chit chat and drink coffee like little old ladies :) I ordered to-go one of their lunch specials which included 2 pupusas, side of plantains, refried beans and sour cream. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his lunch :) I would love to return here next time and try their pupusas.

The food was really good. Service was efficient. Waiters friendly, other staff not so much. Fair prices. Good portions. Full bar. Maybe the best Salvadoran food I've had. Serves American food too. Will be back.
